The Broken Plow

Urban microfarm on the east edge of Bend, near St Charles, Bend Pine Nursery Park, & Mountain View High. We are organic gardeners with backyard ducks, chickens, turkeys and honeybees. The farm is a work in progress, but we hope to soon add herbs, berries, tree-fruit, and other products. On 1.7 acres, we grow as much as we can, in the footprint we have.

PRODUCE
By selling directly to families, in an unwashed condition, we aim to keep our prices low. Often, we harvest and stock the farmstand in the morning, and are sold out by evening. This means the produce is ultra-fresh. Though we are too tiny to pursue organic certification, we always check that a substance is on the USDA organic approved list before utilizing on/in our garden.

EGGS/MEAT
All our animals have room to roam as we rotationally graze them on our little pasture. In the winter, we sprout them greens to ensure they continue to get lots of omega-3 rich foods, which they gobble up with relish! They are also supplemented with local alfalfa-based feed (it is not organic.) For the most part, our chickens and ducks produce eggs for the farmstand. However, we do occasionally offer pastured turkey, chicken & duck meat. We hope to have heritage piglets available in 2022 – fingers crossed!

HONEYBEES
Our honeybees are in our back yard year-round and forage on Bend’s pollen/nectar producing plants. We do not use any synthetic chemicals in our hives.

OTHER PRODUCERS
We have been so honored to occasionally sell produce and honeybee products raised by nearby friends. When these products are in our farmstand, they are marked accordingly.

FARMSTAND DETAILS
Our farmstand is inside the front room of our stone barn and is self-serve. Payment can be made by cash, check, Venmo, CashApp, or Farmer Direct Checks. Please bring your own grocery and produce bags.

We do not have a website, but post a harvest list on our Instagram page occasionally. For those who don’t use Instagram, we also send updates via text/email, upon request.
